Jason
Watts’ work
could only have evolved out of an intimate love and understanding
of Americana. His work portrays the daily life and social structures
of contemporary culture focusing on the American experience.
A combination of both perceptions of society and storytelling,
Watts unfurls a complex, imaginary world on his canvas that
gives us recognition and understanding of our own world. His
pieces have a unique style that derives from his inclination
toward dynamism in each work. He creates interesting experiments
through his manipulation of vantage points that test the limits
of perspective. His social commentary has provided most of
the fuel that has lead to his current success. In his most
recent work,
Watts is fascinated with the commuter experience. Trains, automobiles,
with vast stretches of highways are a familiar part of the daily
routine- and are used as a reference point and primary motif
in his paintings.
Jason Watts has had successful gallery shows in Chicago, Washington
D.C., Baltimore, New York, Lewes Delaware, and Galerie Nouvelle,
Greenport, N.Y. He has received national recognition and awards
in several juried shows and has been reviewed in the Washington
Post, Artisspectrum Magazine, and The Artful Home. He is in many
private and corporate collections including Northwest Airlines.
